Dear Mother,

I'm sorry that I haven't written much lately, but the business at hand is "very pressing." Group B, which is composed of 4 squadrons, including 107, is giving a big show Monday night. By some strange coincidence, I was made director of stage setting and electrical effects. So, I have really been working hard. Jim Rafferty is the director of the show and I am directly under him. It is going to be a variety show (comedy) but no vocalists will be used because we can't procure any "mikes."

However, as things progress, I'll tell you more about it. I've really been working hard, as we're trying to make quite a show out of it. Good old Withrow Minstrel Show experience comes in handy, but I'm quite sure that our show will easily exceed anything Withrow ever put on.

The auditorium seats 2600 people, so we'll have quite an audience. Through my efforts, the lighting effects are going to be fairly similar to Withrow's. The stage will be, or is being built similar to Withrow's. However, we have much more to work with, and I imagine everything will be excellent. I'm certainly not worried.

I'll try to answer a few of your questions now. Yes, we do have a few radios in each of our barracks. Makes the evenings very enjoyable. The movies here cost us 15 cents per ticket. One ticket gets one boy in. But 15 cents isn't too much.

My electric razor arrived and is fine. It sure saves me a load of time. When you call me this Sunday, place the call so that it will reach me about 11:00 p.m. That is the best time to reach me, as all day Sunday I will be busy with the show.

I will try to write tomorrow. So, 'til then.

Loads of love,
Jack
