PRIMARY FLIGHT

  return to primary flight

Dear Mother,

I just tried to call you, but was unsuccessful. However, I'll try again tomorrow. I guess that you realize that I'm practically a "veteran" pilot by now. I've got a total of 55 minutes flying time so far. Anyway, I haven't been washed out yet and won't get washed out on air sickness because I don't get air sick. That sounds reasonable, doesn't it?

As far as I can tell, I'm doing O.K. so far. At least my instructor doesn't "hop" on me too much. So far the ground school courses here are a snap. I just hope that they stay this easy for me - then I'll have more time to concentrate on flying.

So far the most that I've done with a plane is to do straight and level flight, turns and banks, climbs and dives, a glide and one take off. It's been real easy to do so far. But you can't ever tell what's to come. Here's hoping!

I'm running out of time, so will close for now.

Lots of love,
Jack

p.s. When I see you, I'll have some stories to tell concerning this war that can't be written. You can really believe that!
