  return to primary flight

Dear Folks,

As time passes on here, I grow to like flying more and more. It's really great stuff. Today I did various types of stalls for my instructor and he did one spin. A spin is the most thrilling thing that a person can imagine. It really is startling the way a plane will spin and the ease that a pilot can recover from a spin.

Some day I'll take you for a ride and show you what I mean. Also, I practiced flying rectangular courses, "S" turns, and a few other minor maneuvers. So far I have 3 hours and 5 minutes. The time is coming right up. Boy! It seems that W.A.C. is really in the soup. But, if the charges are true, I hope that they get plenty of punishment. I wouldn't be surprised to see the plant given to another airplane engine organization.

Whatever happened to Miles Todd? How he escapes the Army or Navy is more than I can understand. But I couldn't be more happy than I am here being in the cadets and flying, perfect food, etc. Really, it's tops. Five of the fellows on that list you sent me are here at Pine Bluff - all are swell fellows.

Well, must close for now.

Love,
Jack
