WAR OVER EUROPE
July 1944 to August 1944
  return to war over europe

Dear Pop,

Had some spare time this evening, so I'm knocking out lots of letters. Thought I'd write you a special letter and send it to the office.

I'm still in northern Ireland - expecting to return to England shortly. Dad, these "Irishers" are just what I had expected them to be! They talk like most people think they should talk and generally seem to be quite quick tempered. One thing - we NEVER mention politics or religion to an "Irisher" - mention one of those two and an American has a sure fight.

Since the Model Laundry Company hasn't any Irish branch (frankly I don't think Ireland has any laundry). I had to wash my own clothes today. It proved to be quite a job - because of this, I rate each and every one of your employees and employers in the highest. I washed hard at laundering my clothes - they must work hard at washing the clothes of other people. Of course, a scrub brush can't compare with your equipment!

Say "hello" to all the lads and lasses at the office for me.

Lots of love,
Jack
